Chip was admitted to Ole Miss in 1954. During his undergraduate study there he was a prominent figure on campus. He became the president of his fraternity, Alpha Tau Omega, and he was nominated into the Ole Miss "Hall of Fame." In 1958 he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Upon graduation Chip was then recruited to join the U.S. Navy. When looking at class photos, seek a crew cut, big ears, and a smile :)
